Seems like Voat may be down for a while. Reddit won't get my content ever again so I came here. Want to get a feel for the place before I make any actual submissions.

I get the rules here are different and I can abide by them and be respectful, but I wonder if they will allow the DIYGUNS sub here. Was really excited about that and now that I have everything (almost) I was so excited to get it started.

Anyways if you don't know me I was on Voat since almost the beginning. And stayed loyal to the platform. Yes I am a racist, but I had my reasons and yes I can contain my views within this platform.

Here is to hoping this place can make it longer.

We don't have any rules explicitly related to firearms, the topic was brought up when Reddit started to ban the gundeals stuff though. We are hosted in the US, and as far as I'm aware, there is no law that exists in the US that would prohibit this kind of sub. Broadly speaking, I think the only two instances in which a gun sub would be banned is if the sale of firearms was happening directly on the site, or if a violent use of firearms was being advocated. Outside of that, there is no issue from a US perspective. The only other thing that may apply here is this kind of content being illegal to view in other countries, which is an issue for the individual user residing in that country, not for Phuks.

Well of course on the personal sales issue. That is not something I would condone myself, but this will show the manufacturing of your own lower for an ar15 which is perfectly legal within the USA.

I will set up the subverse and begin content posting. I only ask that if I break rules you please just say hey.....retard! I got a thick skin and will laugh back of course.

My only ambition with these kinds of subs is to educate and help others so it isn't malicious.

You won't be able to make a sub until you are level 2, which is around 40 upvotes, it shouldn't take long. It's basically so we don't have a flood of new users mass creating subs on the first day of account creation without knowing anything about the site, then leaving them empty.

So far admin deletions have been a rarity to be honest, if that's what the sub is intended for then there's no issue.

Not sure on the exact number but we're in no danger of crashing at all as it stands.

Place reminds me of Voat back in early days. Was fun back then....more than it was as of current to be honest. I will try and see if I can actually get a few others to migrate here. (Decent folks mind you).

Well boss that sounds fucking great. I am going to live stream this making of the lower so people can see step by step and I have NEVER done this so I am learning too.

We will all see how easy it is. On the live stream I will list all the shit I ordered and where I got it from as well as cost. So everyone will know what they are going to get into.

May I ask what host you use compared to voat that has these speech restrictions?

I’m looking for a hosting provider where we won’t have to worry constantly about hate speech issues.

Many people are mildly racist: you should have better luck discussing related issues around here than you did on raddle.

Posting content of any kind that incites discrimination, hate or violence towards one person or a group of people because of their belonging to a race, religion or nation is strictly prohibited.

This is a little ambiguous, but I think any reasonable interpretation isn't a real impediment to good discussion. The admins seem reasonable.

I only brought it up because I am somewhat outspoken, but I can curb my own views seeing as this is someone else's house and I am not here to wipe my ass with the curtains after I shit on the coffee table.

As for helping people, Many around here are quite aware of and bored with voat's dominant views, so I doubt you'll find many to 'educate' if that's what you mean. Perhaps you'll find some worthwhile discussion anyway.

Oh the views of whatever Voat was isn't what I am even going to try anymore.

My main focus from now on is the making of AR-15 from 80% lowers and different upper configurations and small engine repairs like mowers and such. Just general things that many don't know and just need a hand sometimes form another person.

How far is this enforced? I'm still finding my bearings. I have been looking for a place that's in between reddit and Voat. I'm glad your front page doesn't look like a Nazi spergfest, but I also hope we can have frank discussions about things like the Islamification of Europe without our comments being deleted. Otherwise there's no difference from reddit.

In fact, I don't really see a mission statement anywhere. Could anyone give me a rundown of what does differentiate this place from reddit and/or why it was created?

I'm nobody around here, but I get the impression that there is no clear mission statement, apart from some obvious states of dysfunction that the admins probably prefer to avoid if possible.

Sticking to the facts of specific issues and trying to avoid asserting sweeping/emotive conclusions would probably be wise. If someone unreasonable was enforcing that rule, there are a lot of things that could be interpreted as 'inciting discrimination' - but again, the admins seem reasonable.

Yeah, that's the problem. It is their house. How does one define discrimination for example? I have already discriminated against the site owners by just saying that their rules are garbage. As much as I hated the full on racism and the like that exists in voat, it is a completely unrestricted platform.
