Hi. I don't think anyone here skydives, but I could be wrong. How did you find us?

There are a couple of things you might need to know. To opt in for NSFW content, you have to go into your settings [the cog] and tick the NSFW box. Also, enable experimental features while you're there, it will make things auto update so you don't need to refresh the page. Dark mode looks better than light mode, press the lightbulb to change it.

Skydiving is certainly something I want to do, although I don't know if I will ever get around to it. In some ways it's frightening, but that's a good thing.

I always insist they keep the doors closed on the plane when its in the air.

Skydiving scares the shit out of me!

Realistically if the plane isn't moving fast you can totally open the door and safely close it. Actually smaller planes its terrifying to close the door, because the pilot needs to basically create a break in the wind so they will roll and turn slightly so that the door doesn't have wind pressure holding it up any more.

I can only find videos of pilots doing it really smoothly... but some just jerk the hell out of it

I had a hard time standing on the glass floor in the CN tower. There is just no way I would be able to skydive or bungee jump.

After about 5000 FT of height you lose the ability to understand altitude and it actually becomes easier. I am still scared shitless of Hop n Pop's (low altitude jumps) but get me past 6K (2k Meters) and i have no issue stepping out. even though im also from the GTA i still use Feet for skydiving and KM for driving haha

Yes I am not a huge addicted like most of the jumpers i know though, they are addicted! I just do it as a hobby and to get out of the house :)

Once you are in the sport its not that expensive running about 3-4k a year.

the start up is about 10k-13k though

Yeah the primary cost and the limited possibility to jump due to weather are what is keeping me off. Still I keep it on my list as it must be an insane adrenaline rush and feeling of freedom.

Actually the weather stuff is sometimes the best part of skydiving. You just hang out and drink with a bunch of people who are from all walks of life. The dropzones are usually large fields so fire and sports usually happen.

hahaha I see you know the sport is all about who has the most jumps :P I am new this year so I'm still sub 100 but I haven't counted recently. I just did some winter jumps and am about to go to mexico to jump.
