After hearing about this latest school shooting I stopped by a few other forums to read up and get details. The usual lies and half-truths were most of what I found. The "left" screaming nazi, the "right" chanting antifa, and so on.

When I contrast that to Phuks, I realize why I like this place so much. Sure its nice to get away from the hate, listen to some music, and engage in the occasional discussion that slips through the other posts.

What I really love about this place is that it doesn't have the same political spam other places do. I can go a whole day here without reading about the sins of some president, or seeing the name of some made-up boogeyman political alliance.

Maybe its because you guys are more level headed, or maybe its because Phuks is too small to attract the shills. Who knows. All I know is I like the vibe here.

Much love, you fucking weirdos <3

It was a false flag, they're trying to take our guns reeeeee

But yeah, I like that too. I think it is partially to do with the size of the userbase.

I mean they are trying to take my guns away though... :( and while I'll be sure to have enough boating accidents and legally unregistered firearms about by the time that happens it does still piss me off. Majority of the nation doesn't want gun control... Let's replace them w/ groups that vote welfare over guns 99% of the time.

But yeah I agree, all the "everything's a false flaggers" and Sandy Hook conspiracists wackos can suck my left one.

Sometimes I wonder if the extreme interpretation of gun rights might actually backfire and wind up being what enables them to take all the guns.

What I mean is that from an outside view it looks like guns in the US are an 'all or nothing' mindset. Most of the vocal gun rights activism opposes all or most regulation, as a default stance. It is not possible to have effective gun laws in a neighboring region to one with lax laws.
This can lead to thinking that if you don't ban them all, everywhere, you haven't restricted them at all.

It seems to be a situation that is destined to polarize itself.

Here, we have federal level restrictions that are tighter than some states, but looser than others.
There is little to no pressure to change them in any direction. I've often wondered if giving federal jurisdiction would help in the south. I don't see how compromise can be reached in another way.

For the record, I'm not trying to say 'Canada is better'. We never had to deal with the issue in the same way, so it's just different.

We are better though.
