Days like today make me appreciate Phuks.

Sometimes I wonder if the extreme interpretation of gun rights might actually backfire and wind up being what enables them to take all the guns. What I mean is that from an outside view it looks like guns in the US are an 'all or nothing' mindset. Most of the vocal gun rights activism opposes all or most regulation, as a default stance. It is not possible to have *effective* gun laws in a neighboring region to one with lax laws. This can lead to thinking that if you don't ban them all, everywhere, you haven't restricted them at all. It seems to be a situation that is destined to polarize itself. Here, we have federal level restrictions that are tighter than some states, but looser than others. There is little to no pressure to change them in any direction. I've often wondered if giving federal jurisdiction would help in the south. I don't see how compromise can be reached in another way. For the record, I'm not trying to say 'Canada is better'. We never had to deal with the issue in the same way, so it's just different. ^^We ^^are ^^better ^^though.
