I live outside a major city that would for sure be nuked. I would die slowly of radiation poisoning. I would not witness the fall of mankind. Life would be terrible and hard in a radioactive environment with the sun blocked out for a few years.

I guess I never really thought of that. If the plants go then so does pretty much all life on Earth. Then it's an "extinction level event" as they say in the movies and maybe in real life too I dunno.

I wonder if there would be a way to focus sunlight through mirrors and lenses so that enough gets through to grow some crops?

Maybe if we had some damn moon colonies and humans in space and not one dinky little space station and some robots in space. I realize the space race was a big dick swinging competition and there is no real reason to push for space while there is breathable air and clean water. It sucks that the environment will have to degrade enough for people to become desperate enough to push into space.
