Can't wait for it to hit midnight!

The prepper fantasy is trendy but life after the end of civilization is a lot harder and less glamorous than the story they are selling.

Despite the few bemoaning the ills of civilization, life is objectively better with it than without. Nothing stops these people leaving civilization now, yet they do not.

I live outside a major city that would for sure be nuked. I would die slowly of radiation poisoning. I would not witness the fall of mankind. Life would be terrible and hard in a radioactive environment with the sun blocked out for a few years.

I guess I never really thought of that. If the plants go then so does pretty much all life on Earth. Then it's an "extinction level event" as they say in the movies and maybe in real life too I dunno.

I wonder if there would be a way to focus sunlight through mirrors and lenses so that enough gets through to grow some crops?

My area could be a a hot spot to hit. But if its not I'd be tickled to see what happens after the bombs fall. The future looks dismal.
