Looking snazzy. If you want to hide some of the tool marks spray some flat black engine block paint into a rag and just wipe over the shiny spots to blend it. Good for hiding any accidental vice and tool marks etc and the paint is designed for high temps so it won't bake off easily throwing a lot of lead down range.

Thanks for the tip!

Soon as I get done beating the fuck out of it I will, but it is like a car to a 16yo right now.

Yeah just be sure to remove any grease/oil/finger oils beforehand using engine degreaser or isopropyl alcohol (anything above 90% works great). It's usually not noticeable but if the flat black doesn't match closely enough I'll mix it w/ the tiniest bit of high temperature white paint to lighten it. Q-tips aren't just for ears :) Definitely wait till you've broken it in though. New guns are fun and generally get the heaviest use. At least that's the way I do it.

Oh man.....this upper will get the bore run smooth from me.

The others.....yeah fun to shoot, but not like this big bitch.

7.62x39 is my favorite cartridge. Plenty of power, range, and accuracy, but recoil is manageable.

The power is just what makes it so damn good. You really feel it with each shot (that does go off) I had two in my box of Tula ammo that failed to ignite. Told that was actually pretty good in a box of 40 and to expect anywhere from 2 to 6 every box.

Honestly for 5 bucks a box I can deal with that every day.

Going to switch to Tula for my 5.56's as well. Got 5 boxes of wolf, Tula, and the red box with the bear on it. Just to see what I can tolerate the easiest.

Pretty sure for plinking it doesn't matter and my BCG are all new, plus I have extra extractor parts (full kit with springs and o-rings for all) also have replacement titanium firing pins for all of them too for when they go out.

Ordered me a riser for that scope as you can see it is right on the rail....like less than a millimeter off that thing lol. The scope is a cheapo 70 dollar one from Walmart to see if I actually like the style and decide to keep it or take it back for something better.

Interesting, I don't think I've ever had a round fail to go off, and this is using the giant surplus "spam" cans with 40+ year old rounds. That is also part of what I love about it. It is so incredibly reliable. I've gotten sand in the receiver or my SKS and it still worked flawlessly. Meanwhile I've had plenty of jams in my western civilian calibers. It has me sold on Soviet gear for my doomsday arsenal.

I had a solid tap on the primer so I know that wasn't it. Even had it go through again and didn't go off. So it is whatever to me.

I am going to order a few spam cans when we finish our move.
