Flat Earth has gotta be up there.

For shits and giggles I watch a lot of flat earth videos. It is astounding to see how far down the rabbit hole some of these people go. Such crazy assumptions and random connections lol. I've gotta be careful though, I think I'm starting to self-indoctrinate. Some of the points they make man...especially about ancient history. IDK man!

What's crazy (pun intended) is how much thought they put into developing the models. Some of them clearly require some form of intelligence to work out.
But they just can't see the holes. Some kind of mental/intellectual filter is at play.

Watching something like that happen, where a very intelligent person gets caught in a spiral, terrifies me. It makes me question my own sanity, like how the fuck do I know that I haven't fallen into the same trap? I'm really glad I was exposed to Robert Anton Wilson and his "non-belief" system of constantly adjusting your perspective.

I'm pretty much positive that modern flat earth theory has been designed to discredit conspiracy theorists in general. These people are almost always lumping other totally plausible theories in with their madness. Look at all the flat earth idiots that attack Joe Rogan. I'd bet money that it's because this pisses Rogan off, and someone has a strong interest in keeping Rogan from getting along with conspiracy theorists.

Just saying, I believe in taking each claim on a case-by-case basis. There are some serious idiots with good points, and some genuine people that are flat-out wrong.

This right here. Disinformation and massive influx of information so as to water down the truth. If the truth exists at this point.

I absolutely believe that this type of psyop is not only possible but is practical. It would make sense for this to happen. It confuses us, and gets intelligent people to turn on each other.

That's my new favourite conspiracy theory.

I love watching flat earth videos from the ice walls to gravity not existing and instead there being a universe up force pushing the flat earth upwards constantly. Also the demonstrations where they get a spinning globe and pour water on it to prove water cannot stay on a spinning globe.

You're making me want to fire up some YouTube and shmoke a joint! Lets dive into some Universal UPFORCE! Lol.

It also makes some of the juiciest memes.

Yeah, I get your worries too - I watch their videos to amuse myself... and sometimes I struggle to remember that I've been around the world, like literally more than a few times. Sure, I've not been in space, but damn, it would seem like an awful lot of work to fake a spherical planet for no apparent reason.

That is the best point! What is the damned purpose of the flat earth hoax? Why keep that from us? Its not like we could do anything with that information. So the world is flat, how is that going to change anything we do or think?

That one is great because it comes full circle. I remember the original flar earth belief as a big joke. Looking back on long ago history and thinking humans will never be that uninformed again. Surely we are progressing as a species...

Nope, flat earth.

Even back when many claim 'they' all believed the Earth was flat ... most didn't - LOL. Round is anything but a new concept.

Eratosthenes worked out the circumference of the planet 300 years before Christ.
They were even tracking and sizing other planets.

We've cycled between smart and dumb all through history.
Looks like we're due for some dumb times.
