Hi guys,

I've noticed that a couple of my more recent posts on this sub have gotten more downvotes than upvotes, specifically regarding stuff about our websites. And I just thought I might ask, am I doing something wrong? If so, how can I improve?

Feel free to leave any feedback. And I promise that I will not delete any comments unless they violate the rules of Sandia Mesa's sub or the ToS of Phuks.

Alright I'll bite and even assume this isn't bait. We have guys that promote their own sites here and we love em b/c they bring OC and post other content as well. When it's all only your site all the time it's gonna turn people off. Many of us are here b/c we like sites that don't bombard us w/ advertising or track our every click. The users that promote their own sites and succeed are genuine users. They're here to hang out and even sometimes post things that are controversial to others. They're not special, they're just individuals. All this you're doing feels like milquetoast advertising. Jesus man. Just have a controversial opinion one time or post content from other sites as well. As it is... you're not a user... you're an advertiser.

Absolutely understandable. Someone else actually told me that, too. So, I'm thinking that I'll do better to post more varieties of content here, especially since I now know that an oversaturation of talking Sandia Mesa this and Sandia Mesa that 24/7 on my part could really wear people out and make them less likely to want to post different kinds of content here. I do apologize about coming off as an advertiser here rather than a normal user. And I will try to be better in the near future.

Thank you for your feedback! :)

Also man just interact w/ other users. I'm too lazy to check your comment history but I'm guessing your rarely comment in other users threads. This community is so great b/c it's small. We disagree w/ each other and bust each others balls all the time. Even users I disagree w/ I tend to like. It's part of the intimacy and nuance of a small community.

I've actually interacted and commented on other posts fairly often. So, I'll try to have the same willingness to post varieties of content as I do to comment on others' posts.

  1. My god, fix your sub's css. Seriously, dude.

  2. Nearly all of your posts are on your sub and are about your site. Since you are providing content that is pretty much just self-promotion, nearly all user content aggregate sites consider this spam. I seriously doubt that you are so new to teh interwebs that you don't know this already. I mean, you know CSS so you know how social media works and why you should post other content along with your self-promotion materials.

  1. Alright. Can understand that complaint about the CSS. Do you have any suggestions or ideas as to what parts of the sub's CSS/design that I could improve?
  2. You're right. I do think we should have more diversity in our content. I personally think I should post more content from other creators since I know a few, especially because we have "Creators & Self-Promotion" as a flair. And reflecting on Sr. Pelo's Bunty King meme that I posted on s/DankMemes, I think I should've kept it here when I initially posted it here (We have the "Memes & Shitposts" flair). I'll do better myself to have more diversity in the kinds of content I post here. Another issue with this sub right now is that we only have 4 subscribers. However, I think this can be improved if I start to initiate more variety in the content I post here.

Thank you for your feedback! :)

Don't do white text unless you're going to increase the font size (like my reply here). Your bright blue is bright. Like really bright. It decreases the contrast between the background and text and makes it more difficult to read.

There's nothing wrong with posting your own content but as @PhuksMulder said mix it up a bit.
