The shenanigans with the closed and centralized server, not releasing client source code for 1+ years, connecting your account with a phone number, and metadata collection make me cautious to use it and find them trustworthy. Better than facebook messenger or something, but it's unfortunate that they are the only decent technical messaging app that you actually would have a chance to use with normies.
