So if the party has never changed since then, it must of been the Republicans who fought for civil rights in the 60's. I wont excuse what happened in the past, but its completely asinine to claim that things haven't changed in a massive way.

Nearly three times more democrats voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 than republicans. When counting the vote for it, we find that it's nearly equal with the balance only slightly tipped in favor of democrats. All told, however, a larger percentage of democrats vs republicans voted "nay."
