I spent years on Voat, until the cancerous racists made it so nasty that I gave up.

I just spent a week over on Poal, and those shrieking cancerous racist idiots are bent on being noticed (and, of course, never getting disagreed with, and if you do, they'll flood your inbox and notices and downvote everything, because that's how civilized discussion occurs), and so I'm probably giving up there, too.

While I don't mind racist idiots being on a platform, is there a way to block the persistently irritating ones here?

I'll try posting for a bit, probably replicating what I did over on Poal to some extent.

How does one block @s from specific accounts?

When you get a notification, there's a "block" button next to the reply/permalink/delete buttons

Also, thanks for being patient with someone who's a bit twitchy due to recent experiences.

I think a lot of users here are former Voaters who left for similar reasons

That will block the whole account, or just each @? The context makes me think the latter.

That will block notifications from that account (so, comment/post reply notifications and @'s). It won't hide posts/comments made by that person
