Mainly stuck around voat for the shitposts and endless stream of news, from different random sources. Also, Phuks kinda seemed like a ghost town— even by voat standards. But, alas, times move forward. Gonna stick around here and gab, for a while. See which one grows on me. Mainly, I have a question involving this line, from the ToS:

Posting content of any kind that incites discrimination, hate or violence towards one person or a group of people because of their belonging to a race, religion or nation is strictly prohibited.

Seems to be the elephant in the room, for those who are apprehensively singing up, over the past 24 - 48hrs. Part of the reason that voat blew up, was due to the fact that you could discuss things that were beginning to be labelled "taboo", elsewhere. I've seen others, in my short burst of lurking, that they're posting things like, "fuck Islam" as a proof that this place isn't reddit 2.0. That's cool.

I'm just looking for clarification; I get that inciting hate and violence, and simply stating your hatred towards something, are two different things. But in the spirit of not coming in here to shit up the place, figured I'd ask first. If I just have to tone-down the shitposts and jew-memes, that's cool. If I have to tip-toe around saying anything negative about things that I sincerely believe in, because it might offend someone and get me banned— even if I'm being completely objective and reasonable, about my views, then you could consider this my last post. :/

Here's my question for you: why would you feel the need to constantly talk about the people you dislike? That's where the rub comes for me. I don't care that much if you're a bigot or a racist, we'll find common ground elsewhere. Just don't bring it up in every conversation, that's dumb. Why bother with memes about them?

This sort of stuff, it doesn't make sense to keep watering the garden of your hatred. The adult thing to do, if you don't like or if you outright hate something, you cut it from your life. Make sure it is no longer a part of your life. Living in constant uproar is just... wrong.

Whatever. I'm not staff, I'm just vocal about this topic.

The ToS says what it says, make sure it's legal under US law more or less. Err on the side of safety.

Maybe I won't really get along with you that well, but welcome anyway. Opposing viewpoints are still welcome in my book as long as it's open for level discussion.

Didn't mean to imply that. I'm just talking about generalities. It's like the 2A. Just because you want the right to have a gun, doesn't mean you're going to walk around, constantly shooting it in random public places.

Why bother with memes about them?

Because sometimes they can be relevant and topical. Like the recent bount of zucc memes, for example. It's a good way to blow off steam and have a giggle.

Sometimes, looking in to "forbidden facts" will lead you down a path that will make you unkindly towards certain things, in life. That's just the way it goes. Forget where that one quote comes from, "the truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off".

if you don't like or if you outright hate something, you cut it from your life

Sometimes, that's impossible. For example, to cut fiat currency out of my life, I'd have to live in the woods. I mean, I have a plan laid out, to do just that, after I retire. But that's not feasible. Along those lines, I hate the fed and the people that run it. Not much I can do about that, either, except open people's eyes to the rampant corruption behind said organization.

So is living with your head in stuck in the ground, singing, "lalalalalalalalalalala" whenever you see something seriously wrong with society. That's how the UK ended up being as messed up as it is now.

Maybe I won't really get along with you that well, but welcome anyway.

That's perfectly fine, bud. I'm an adult enough to completely accept and embrace the fact that some people won't like my views on certain things; I'm used to it by now. I'd consider myself a complete wimp, to think anything else. ;) Once you let go of the need to have everyone like you, the world becomes a much simpler and straight-forward place.

You pick your battles and don't waste your energy on worthless causes, it has nothing to do with complacency.

There's no reason to fight for the sake of fighting is my ultimate point here.

You do you, bud.

Pretty sure there's some miscommunication here, but I can't put my finger on it. I'm not on some crusade, dude. I just want to be able to discuss things openly, without the fear of reprisal due to wrong-think. That's all. Just making sure that the wording of the ToS doesn't mean that someone isn't going to ban me, simply because I pointed something out that someone didn't like. I'm not gonna pick fights with people, just for the sake of it. In my three years on voat, I flew pretty well under the radar and never involved myself in any of the drama, despite commenting more-than-regularly. That being said, I won't shy away from a debate.

I will say that it can sometimes help to get things off your chest. I have worked in and around all sorts of people and have noticed a close difference in character and treatment. The internet is sometimes the only outlet I have to vent those issues. Not saying I go around forums constantly screaming nigger or kike. That's just annoying.

I get that, I understand it totally. I used to work helpdesk and supported people in a larger, more uhh... "ethnic" town. Rest assured I can and have gone off about that. I try not to, I try to repress any of that internal hate because that not who I want to be. But sometimes, man, sometimes...

Glad to hear that. Also, somebody downvoted you before I replied--it wasn't me. I'll even it out.

I don't mind downphuks or upphuks. I come to places like this for many reasons and none of them are for imaginary points.

I agree to a point. Repressing ones opinions or reality is never good. Those feelings will come out in one way or another. There is no reason to live with hate inside of yourself. But calling a spade a spade isn't exactly what I would call hate. It is being a realist.
