This is related to @FhilaFerret 's post here.

Sometimes I'm keen to listen to a sample of the phuks playlist, and it would be convenient to be subscribed 'just' to all the music subs.

At other times I'm just reviewing the more factual-based current affairs posts, and it'd be great to just be subscribed to just s/Technology s/Science s/News etc..

I also like browsing /all/new to see all the odd things people are posting, but the music does get in the way, especially when people are on a posting run. Hence it would be good to block all the music subs and see everything else.

It would be great if one day I could choose from a user-defined list of two types of 'views': one type based on /all/ excluding some specified subs, and another type that involves viewing nothing but a list of specified subs.

By curation, I didn't necessarily mean admin curation, although I would like admins to have the ability to edit the groupings in case someone starts going apeshit with it. Perhaps we could have tag mods or something, or some kind of popularity based thing like Steam has where x amount of people grouping a sub into a tag would make it show up in that tag.

If anyone could create a grouping and make it available for others to copy and use/edit, I don't see why there'd be a need to do much if any top-down editing. What manner of "going apeshit" do you think could turn into a problem?

Sub tags are a separate issue in my eyes. If a popular grouping is going to be <everything but music and shitposting> you can't give every sub that qualifies an <everything but music and shitposting> tag. Even if you make use of <music> and <shitposting> tags, your definition of <shitposting> is going to be different from mine, making the tag not-so-useful.

Ah, so you just mean user created multis?

I think sub tags could turn into an issue if you had someone who kept removing certain subs, or adding things to tags that should not be in that tag. There is also the issue of people creating far too many obscure ones, which is what happened last time.

Yes. I remember the tagging mess. I see no real need for, or advantage in tags.
