Edit: Title was autocorrected

Remove the downvote option on a persons user page.

Noticed today when I clicked on a phukers user page you can view their post history. Next to their posts is the downvote/upvote option. Maybe that feature should be removed from the persons user page as it could be easily used as a way to downvote a user into oblivion very easily and quickly. Currently phuks is wonderfully drama free and maybe I suffer from post voat fatigue syndrome but my first thought when I saw that was how it could be used for harm.

The up/downvote arrows weren't supposed to be on the user page AT ALL, but @pembo210 kept them there because he's too lazy. Blame him

Good idea. That would resolve a lot of drama before it does happen.

It's honestly just left over paranoia from voat that made my mind go there. If this feature was on that site, how quickly it would be exploited. Not just to downvote but to upvote spam and get past voting restrictions.

True enough. No sense making it easy for the trolls and shills once they start popping up.

To be honest, I've never been a big fan of Up and Down votes at all anyway. I wish there was a better system. But have no clue what, if anything, could replace it. I generally just go into any sub or the front page and read stuff from the 'new' top down. I don't care how anyone else has rated it. If the title interests me, I open and read. Many have to read going down a popular list rated by up votes ... so it's good for them. Otherwise, the whole system is worthless. It's not like I can buy a cup of coffee with fake internet points.

I don't think they're entirely worthless. They do let the poster gage what content the community is interested in and what might spark more involvement to the sub. Phuks is small enough that every post is noticed by the majority, my concern is for the future growth of the place. A spammer could manipulate the system by creating alts easily upvoting alts and get to the phuks level of making subs. Then they'd use said subs to spam the site.

Title gore sorry: remove the upvote downvote option on a users page.

Sorry for the phuky title.

Hopefully it doesn't get like that, here. But with growth comes cancer. How people to deal with cancer is the saving grace.

How would this work in relation to post sorts? I think downvotes can curb the popularity of cheap posts. What I mean by this is that there is a kind of post that is upvoted purely because it caters towards the lowest common denominator, the vote count does not reflect the quality of the post (which, ideally, should be its only function). When this happens, I think the progress of the post moving up /s/all can be halted or reversed by downvotes.

For the same thing to happen without downvotes, you would need to intentionally vote up other posts higher than the bad post. It also goes without saying that it plays a role in reducing spam visibility too.

Edit: I don't think this is even a factor at the moment because these kind of posts aren't made on phuks, and people don't downvote anyway, but its still something to consider

You got thrown off by the title I think.
I don't think removing them entirely is being suggested. Just the arrows on the user pages.

Oh what the fuck.

The post content did not load for me, I refreshed and its there. My comment didn't post either, the submit button kept doing nothing.

POOOOOOLSAKER @Polsaker

There had been two posts, one got deleted.
I think you tried to reply to the one that got deleted, while you were writing your reply.
Not a bug.

I agree, it would be nice to remove the down and upvote arrows from the post listing of a user's userpage.

Not sure how awkward that would be to code, but I see the comment listing doesn't have up/downvote arrows, so perhaps it's similar.

Can you upvote a comment from your mailbox like voat and Reddit or do you have to go to the submission page to upvote a response comment? I can't tell if this is site wide or my devices.

[–] smallpond 1 points (+1|-0)

I can't seem to upvote comments from my mailbox, or upvote comments from a user's comment list page.
