Well, those cannot replace a good sourdough pretzel. Potato and corn chips are certainly a thing of the past

Anywhere I can cut down on starches, I'm taking it. It isn't easy managing special diets.

Why the diets? Choice or necessity?

Peter had a triple bypass and stents before we married. He needs to keep his cholesterol down. The pills helped lower it and I've been extremely strict about groceries and menus.

Now that I'm doing the cooking, I choose the ingredients for everything. I drop salt anytime it's possible and substitute low-fat greek yogurt and a little olive oil for butter (but not in everything - it doesn't always work out) and skim milk for regular milk. I've had to adjust amounts and experiment a bit, but most everything tastes alright.

If life ever returns to normal and staff can come back, cook will deal with it.
