What changed and why?

Nothing changed, really. /u/Polsaker was looking at it and noticed that it was complete nonsense. We made a placeholder policy two years ago when the site wasn't even called Phuks, and it was kind of forgotten about because the only focus was on the TOS. I've actually opened the privacy policy page a few times and never made it past the third line because it was so boring, but it did have stuff in there that does not even remotely apply to the site.

So basically, this is privacy policy v1.0. Nothing has changed, there are no things we added that infringed upon the old policy, it's just we didn't really have a relevant policy to begin with. As a side note, if there are any questions you have or suggestions relating to the privacy policy, now is probably a good time.

1.5 years in before someone reads the privacy policy and realizes there is none.
Good job everyone!

I actually read it when I signed up. Top to bottom. It was just a cookie-cutter "cover all your bases, even the ones you don't have" statement that every small site seems to have. Didn't even seem that strange besides mentions of saving data for use in the "shopping cart" and such.

We didn't write the shopping cart bit, that was just pasted from somewhere. I believe it was left in there because we thought about having an onsite store at one point.

I figured as much. Doesn't make much sense to spend time or money to draft something that can just as easily be adapted from any of 1000 other sites.

Also since you seem to know what's up, I'm curious which user actually runs this place? I've seen admins, but no clear boss. Any chance that's what "space lawyer" means?
