Why would the US develop biological weapons in a country facing imminent invasion from Russia?

It's been going on since at least 2005 from other sauce I've seen. There is a narrative that the labs exist to destroy Soviet-era bioweapons, but why haven't they destroyed them all after 17 years? Why are they preserving the weapons? If Ukraine is frightened that the research might fall into Russian hands...well, they developed them in the first place, so why is it a problem to find their own schematics?

Idk, but the fact that Biden Admin is hell bent of propping up Zelenskyy makes me think something fishy is going on.

He's hellbent on stopping the russians from attacking and subjugating a prior client state.

Have you read no history?

According to Russia they want Ukraine to remain neutral. They don't want to subjugate.

Ukraine is in their sphere of influence. The West was wrong to push expansion here.

The existence of these biolabs has been repeatedly denied and denounced as conspiracy theory, but all of the sudden they are fully acknowledged to exist with claims they are to 'prevent bioweapons', not develop them.

If these labs were purely research for public health, why did they try so hard for years to cover up their existence?

There's a thing called national security.

Labs provide a means to create/devise antidotes. Biochem warfare agents are complex things. You can't run down the walmart to buy laboratory glass and all the electronics required for modern research.

If you don't have it on hand when you need it, you might as well surrender.

And actually, who cares? Does anyone really believe that any country attempting to be player on the world stage (or their likely targets) doesn't have those capabilities?

Think about it logically.
