Bolsonaro is pretty far right though. At least in talk. He's super pro-christian, supposedly spoke fondly of Brazil's past military dictatorship, not very big fan of gays, anti affirmative action, ect.

All of which is better for Brazil than communism, but it seems to me Brazil just picked the better brand of authoritarian. I could be wrong though, time will tell.

You're not wrong. He does seem to be the "rule by a heavy hand" sort of guy. I think that's the only way they will break out of their communist regime though. You can't just go "oh hey fuck this communism regime" one day and expect that to work. I don't think this will be peaceful, but it's probably for the best

I mean, its not like Brazil is the most peaceful place as it is. And considering the situation in Venezuela, I think this is probably their best shot at breaking free of that path. I just hope the people of Brazil get some freedom back, rather than trading more of it away for perceived security.

Well he is a very pro gun guy that wants to give the people the ability to defend themselves. That gives me hope to them getting some freedom back
