I was walking home and Big Chonkers was in the yard. Sat down, held my hand out, he sniffed and just left. I don't know if I should be happy or offended

Happy. He didn't spray you, so doesn't perceive you as a threat. You should make friends with him. Animals are better than people and time spent with them generally soothes the soul.

I'm trying to make frens with all animals in the yard. It is not easy, but my neighbors are on board. They showed me where the groundhogs live and where they dig under the fence lol. The alfalfa and nasturiums should drive them nuts

Interestingly skunks have no sense of territory. If they wander out of the area they may never come back.

I'd be happy. Usually they start chittering before they spray. Mine are too distracted eating to care if I'm around, but I don't take chances. Love woodchucks too!

my friendly neighborhood opossum no longer plays dead when it sees me. i tried scaring him off a few weeks ago when he came sauntering up to me but he just looked at me then continued sauntering by. closest i've ever been to one. what an ugly, ugly creature.

Fantastic pest control creatures tho. They eat ticks and spiders like it's their job

also seems adept at keeping a family of raccoons from taking its den. just wish they ate ants too.

All I have are annoying grackles that squawk at me when I hang out on the back porch. Maybe I should stop shooting nerf guns at them and try to befriend the bastards.
