I decided to run a little fake news experiment yesterday. I was unsurprised but disappointed its been a top post without anyone noticing.

The video is from 2014 when the Seahawks won the superbowl.

The second video I posted later in the thread about riots in British columbia was a news report that clearly stated it was caused by the loss of a hockey match in 2011.

What initially was me trying to prove the point that people have rioted worse, for dumber reasons. Has turned into a good lesson to check sources.

You got me. I dont watch riot videos. They're disgusting. I upvoted it anyway because you were the source. It's not your normal pattern, so bringing it up made me think it might have been important to you. I'm pretty strict about sources everywhere else.

edit: Good lesson about upvoting. People selling their accounts to marketing companies absolutely happens. Upvoting someone out of habit breaks the purpose of the vote system.

Didn't even see that post.

Or that one.

Naw, man. If I see people trying to pull crap like that, I call them out hard. There are too many people doing stuff like that deliberately to add chaos to life that we don't need more.

Nice work. That's not the type of content I'm interested in, so I moved on. I wonder what I'd have done if it was? I always question outrageous stuff, so... I like to think I'd notice.

Apparently not when it fits in with our personal beliefs.

I watched your seattle video, didn't see any comparison to the today's riots. I commented that they didn't have a garden, which was too subtle, apparently. You didn't make any claims about the video and your title was not misleading, so I didn't see a need to press the point.

I chose my responses carefully to not acknowledge or promote the misrepresentation.

I didn't put much thought into the whole thing as much of my shenanigans are impulsive drunk nonsense.

But I think its a great representation of how literal fake news can propagate.

Aww geez Rick, I've just seen so many hundreds of videos of riots recently I didn't even pay attention to the title. Media fatigue is real, you just get hit by so much so often you stop paying attention to important points

I didn't watch the B.C. one but I bet it's from when the Canucks lost to the Bruins, those riots were hilarious to watch.

LOLS Okay. I guess I did.

I don't always watch them. I've seen riot footage and wasn't interesting in seeing that again.
