When nonsense like this comes along, I've found it useful to act confused and ask "why?" and then act like you still don't understand whatever bs explanation and keep pushing them when they inevitably dance around since there isn't really a logically consistent reason behind these kinds of things. It's also enjoyable to see them squirm and try to carefully select the words to avoid any number of forbidden words while still trying to put together sentences that make sense. I guess they've caught on and learned to preemptively shutdown inquisitive troublemakers though.
Well the problem is my manager that told me doesn't speak English as a first language and has only been in the US for about a year and I have to constantly explain to him what all the stupid diversity stuff is because he doesn't understand it, so questioning to him wouldn't do anything. He didn't seem to know why either
No reason given to us, they only specifically told managers I guess
