Really so sane_goat was somewhat correct?

The way recent events have evolved, I am starting to think sane may have been slightly correct. Completely useless in his methods, but slightly correct about the current state of Voat.

Damn, that means you know it’s truthful.

I nuked my account (same name) a few days after the outage, before your exchange with Putt. In my personal experience, the atmosphere felt like a unhealthy change. I lurk from time to time to see how it's going, and I'm fairly certain I will not sign back up.

Seeing Putt's response to your post, and his unwillingness to comment to the community felt disappointing at best. Especially after hearing from the elsusive samsquantch, A.K.A. Atko. I was the first to respond to both his posts on preview, which kinda felt like winning the lottery twice in a row, or finding two four leaf clovers side by side.

When I created my account last April, funds were getting tight around there. I made a post asking what everyone wanted to see available in the store, and listed all the different types of merch that other goats would like. When I PMed Putt trying to work out how to go forward without stepping all over their IP and trademarks, he seemed interested. I mentioned I could create/use a third party company that would sell the goods, and donate profits to the site to keep users donations anonymous.

I mentioned establishing NDAs and other legal documents to protect both Voat and it's users. After that discussion though, he just seemed to lose interest or maybe just got bogged down with more pressing things.

I brought it up again when the credit card processor dropped their account and he had to move to bitcoin donations only, but after a few exchanges, he either lost interest or became too busy again.

All good things must come to an end someday I guess. It was time for me to move on.

Anyone with a brain must be considering leaving - LOL. You take care!

This is why I want to put up a clone of this place minus a few rules. I'm pretty sure voat is gone and soon. I'd like to have a place to go that is focused on free speech entirely. Like old voat before all the admin bullshit.

I've been a voat user for close to two years (under a different name of course) and for several months have been wondering what is going on with the site. I'm not in the "inner circle" or a mod or anything; nor am I a programmer that could possibly "look under the hood" so to speak. But I have had fun on the Voat- being able to vent my spleen and read some pretty interesting items has made it well worth my while. OTOH....I never quite understood the "canary" concept until just recently. Voat's canary has been mia for quite some time...and if my understanding of canary is correct, that is not a good thing. I haven't left the site yet, but I am planning to- at least for now.

I’m still there. I don’t want to sound like a shill (I’m far from being one), but you’ll be back. 🙂
