Yeah where I live at the moment it's not really necessary or practical. As it is, one can still walk into any club and pay to fire off down the range or shoot clay pigeons for fun which I've done a few times for special occasions and the like. (so far always score highest or tie for top score amongst my group of mates) If I ever go rural again though I'll definitely be grabbing one for practicality, probably one of the common .223 rifles. Wouldn't mind trying my hand at boar hunting (pest culling) sometime soon too. Cheers for the offer. It's pretty much a fascination and appreciation of the craftsmanship involved, maybe a little envy haha.

When I was in Australia I learned quite a bit about the (gun ban) or forced turn in. Really it didn't seem as if you needed one there to be honest, and your Constitution really didn't include it as a responsibility like ours does.
Either way you are right they would lose their shit if you made one. Don't even know where you would find bullets for one much less an upper. The lower would be easy to get there as you can CNC machine all the parts.
The barrel would be the only hard part. As well as magazines might be hard to do. In the end wouldn't be worth it as they would hang your ass out to dry.
You have any questions or what detailed pictures of the AR I made I can get them for you.
