My voat usage has been diminishing ever since I used this website. I won't ever stop, but it's not as prevalent as it was before.
I'm the same way. If I don't see an explanation from Putt and an updated canary notice by Friday I am deleting my account. There is something horribly fishy going on over there.
I think Friday is a reasonable timeframe to expect a response. I am willing to wait a week from Putts last comment for an updated canary, and not a bit longer. But in my opinion we should have already received a full report.
Waiting on Putt?
Get comfortable.
This is exaclty how I suspect Putts feels right now.
Wow
I agree. Having the concept and putting together a site to support important values is admirable, but it requires quality content being posted by users to thrive. A lot of things have needed attention code-wise but it's obvious the users don't seem to be a very high priority. The site is up for now (thanks to Atko) so what is more important at this point? I get the feeling Putt is wanting to have some fixes and improvements to tout when he finally makes an announcement to disway the inevitable complaints he will receive (many of which won't be justified). Maybe I'm just a grumpy, spoiled, unappreciative free user, but I'd like to feel a little valued for the content I freely offer.
I'm waiting to see if my perspective is misplaced and willing to see what is said. We have no choice but to wait.
In my opinion, waiting to make an announcement was a huge mistake by Puttitout. Not only does Atko's random appearance seem kind of odd, but Putts lack of an Announcement seems even more suspicious. If it was really nothing, then he would have posted by now, and a 503 error is most likely nothing major.
This entire situation stinks and until I see an updated canary, I don't trust Voat. Even then, I'm not sure what to gather from recent events.
I've made a few comments, and I posted a song today in my music sub, but while I still browse daily for news, I have very little confidence in how Voat is run. Actually, I've had little confidence since Atko left because Puttitout doesn't communicate anything to the users (and donators who supposedly keep the site alive). Recycled ads from over a year ago, no communication on problems, and a little brigade of people that scour the site to speak for Putt all turn me off to the site.
The news and posts I can't easily find elsewhere in one package, though, that'll keep me browsing as long as it's available. But I'll never donate or invest much time again as long as Putt is running it.
I haven't used it since Puttitout made comment on the outage but still hasn't made an announcement.
Something feels off about that entire situation and I plan on waiting to see what Puttitout has to say before I decide if I will completely abandon Voat.
Plus, I really like it here. The content is great, the community is better and it reminds me of old Voat.
