My voat usage has been diminishing ever since I used this website. I won't ever stop, but it's not as prevalent as it was before.
I agree. Having the concept and putting together a site to support important values is admirable, but it requires quality content being posted by users to thrive. A lot of things have needed attention code-wise but it's obvious the users don't seem to be a very high priority. The site is up for now (thanks to Atko) so what is more important at this point? I get the feeling Putt is wanting to have some fixes and improvements to tout when he finally makes an announcement to disway the inevitable complaints he will receive (many of which won't be justified). Maybe I'm just a grumpy, spoiled, unappreciative free user, but I'd like to feel a little valued for the content I freely offer.
I'm waiting to see if my perspective is misplaced and willing to see what is said. We have no choice but to wait.
In my opinion, waiting to make an announcement was a huge mistake by Puttitout. Not only does Atko's random appearance seem kind of odd, but Putts lack of an Announcement seems even more suspicious. If it was really nothing, then he would have posted by now, and a 503 error is most likely nothing major.
This entire situation stinks and until I see an updated canary, I don't trust Voat. Even then, I'm not sure what to gather from recent events.
I haven't used it since Puttitout made comment on the outage but still hasn't made an announcement.
Something feels off about that entire situation and I plan on waiting to see what Puttitout has to say before I decide if I will completely abandon Voat.
Plus, I really like it here. The content is great, the community is better and it reminds me of old Voat.
