My voat usage has been diminishing ever since I used this website. I won't ever stop, but it's not as prevalent as it was before.

Not so much since coming here tbh. I wanted a reddit alternative, with free speech, but when the alternative is constantly listening to a barrage of nigger this and jew that, I didn't really enjoy it.

I browse it when I'm bored, but I don't contribute much anymore.

I haven't used it since Puttitout made comment on the outage but still hasn't made an announcement.

Something feels off about that entire situation and I plan on waiting to see what Puttitout has to say before I decide if I will completely abandon Voat.

Plus, I really like it here. The content is great, the community is better and it reminds me of old Voat.

I'm the same way. If I don't see an explanation from Putt and an updated canary notice by Friday I am deleting my account. There is something horribly fishy going on over there.

Good luck. Look on VoatDev and see that some users cannot delete accounts

I think Friday is a reasonable timeframe to expect a response. I am willing to wait a week from Putts last comment for an updated canary, and not a bit longer. But in my opinion we should have already received a full report.

I agree. Having the concept and putting together a site to support important values is admirable, but it requires quality content being posted by users to thrive. A lot of things have needed attention code-wise but it's obvious the users don't seem to be a very high priority. The site is up for now (thanks to Atko) so what is more important at this point? I get the feeling Putt is wanting to have some fixes and improvements to tout when he finally makes an announcement to disway the inevitable complaints he will receive (many of which won't be justified). Maybe I'm just a grumpy, spoiled, unappreciative free user, but I'd like to feel a little valued for the content I freely offer.

I'm waiting to see if my perspective is misplaced and willing to see what is said. We have no choice but to wait.

In my opinion, waiting to make an announcement was a huge mistake by Puttitout. Not only does Atko's random appearance seem kind of odd, but Putts lack of an Announcement seems even more suspicious. If it was really nothing, then he would have posted by now, and a 503 error is most likely nothing major.

This entire situation stinks and until I see an updated canary, I don't trust Voat. Even then, I'm not sure what to gather from recent events.

I've made a few comments, and I posted a song today in my music sub, but while I still browse daily for news, I have very little confidence in how Voat is run. Actually, I've had little confidence since Atko left because Puttitout doesn't communicate anything to the users (and donators who supposedly keep the site alive). Recycled ads from over a year ago, no communication on problems, and a little brigade of people that scour the site to speak for Putt all turn me off to the site.

The news and posts I can't easily find elsewhere in one package, though, that'll keep me browsing as long as it's available. But I'll never donate or invest much time again as long as Putt is running it.

Haven't check voat since a few days before the outage. I probably will again just to check some news but I won't contribute again.

I still lurk at all 3 sites...it's good to get an assortment of views. Working a full time job doesn't leave me much time to comment, but I'm here, quietly, on breaks and lunch. :)

Yeah I do browse Voat but I am modding a few active subs there and have met a great bunch of people that I really want to stay in touch with.

Obviously freedom of speech has its sacrifices attached but Putts hands off management style is pretty unique too. I do hope he gets support and help to run Voat. I know it can’t be pleasant to be on a site where it feels like being at school with “clicky” type groups and also the weird and wonderful outlandish spoken words, but that’s Voat!

It certainly carved itself into my heart even though I don’t partake in many discussions. Eh part time poster etc I still really appreciate it for what it is and I would also like to stay in contact with Phuks as it’s a new start-up and we should all be supporting sites promoting Free Speech is really important and I hope we ALL can remain focussed on the bigger picture.

I also understand it may cause trouble and misunderstanding because I am an owner of v/SBBH the craziest sub on Voat.

Yeah still not sure how that happened but I guess it’s because I don’t let people fluff my tail feathers and can laugh at myself.

Anyway, not sure where I was going with this. I guess just wanting to have a voice here and I hope we can be friends while supporting free speech together.

This is a nice site and active mods are great! Nicely done. :)

Peace to you all,

N :)

I really wish the person who dv'd would have commented. It would be interesting to know what offended them.

[–] Nadeshda 1 points (+1|-0)

Yip, me too, but oh well it happens.

How you doing Sir?

[–] COFfeebreak 1 points (+1|-0)

Been feeling a little poorly lately, no biggie as this too shall pass (one way or another). How's you and the family?

[–] somestonedgnome 2 points (+2|-0)

I just started using voat. I'm only at the stage where i'm almost used to being called a kike fag (I'm not ). Other than that I like it. I usually have two tabs open, this and Voat, though I think I spend more time here where people are more friendly.

[–] ninjajunkie 2 points (+2|-0)

Not nearly as much as I did before finding this place. I still comment, but the few things I would post/link, I bring here now. Ive always been more a commenter than poster.

For all the talk of free speech, I worry less about a backlash if I give a differing opinion here.

I was IP blocked from voat, for a site that proposes to champion free speech that was unforgivable.
