I've seen a number of posts saying that people are contemplating or planning to stay here, even when Voat returns.

I'm doing my due lurking dilligence and trying to get a feel for the site myself, but I thought I'd ask in case I miss something.

Is it just the responsive admins and the lower traffic? Or are there other things that make this place superior?

Thanks.

I like it because the jews will never find it.

Wait no. I like it because that isn't the default comment here. Everything no matter how irrelevent is somehow related to the jews.

I also like that I can talk about code in here without people shitting on it for not being a meme. High effort content actually gets noticed.

I also like that the development is active.

I'd say the culture here is what makes Phuks good. Most of the users here were just completely sick of the drama queens on Reddit and Voat and really just want a place to chill and share interests and stuff. We're not attention seekers and prefer civil discussion over reactionary rage and general vitriol.

Thus far, I actually look forward to comment replies. With Voat, I always felt every conversation was going to result in higher blood pressure, no matter the subject. I once posted a well thought out wall of text (reasonably formatted) on an in development game I follow closely and received scathing replies via PM. Like, come the fuck on. If someone disagrees with you on Voat, you tend to get shit talked. If someone disagrees with you here, it seems they actually explain why they disagree. Those positive moments because fewer and fewer as time went by on Voat.

Man, that anxiety kept me from even bothering. Nothing good came out of a comment, and that goes for both reddit and voat.

I had noticed that as well. Thus seems to be the pattern with forums.

Which game?

Star Citizen. I grew up with the Wing Commander series. I trust Chris Roberts. That guy is nuts for space ships. Even if I didn't already trust Roberts, I think he has delivered a really impressive amount of new tech to set suspicions aside. In any case, SC was not a popular topic over at Voat.

@jobes weren't you telling me some shit ages ago about Star Citizen paying a ton for Cryengine?

I just googled it and it seems like there's an ongoing legal dispute over it, do you know anything about it?

I think the people who were here before voat went down are also trying to get a feel for site after the refugee influx - what you see now isn't quite the same. So far the increased traffic has been positive. If voat stays down I'm guessing the culture will continue to evolve.

Respect. This place seems to understand that free speech isn't screaming over everyone else. I love talking politics and conspiracy. I also love model building, astronomy, ancient history, etc. Phuks is a place I can persue all of them instead of just the first two.

Plus, maybe I can pass off a meme or two as my own here...

Voat really feels like one guy is running the show. Here it feels like a team and it actually has a foundation to build on. If voat does come back I'll be using both.

I like the S C R O N C H feeling whenever I push new features live with barely any testing

Polsaker IRL

On a side note I posted this reply once and it showed up twice, so I tried deleting one and it deleted both, now I'm trying again
