yeah, a bunch of us are from voat. We wanted some different features, so we made our own to mess with on the side. It mostly works the same. If you have any questions, let us know. We'll have an update post if Voat pops up again.

Were the owners making any money out of it? Is there any interest in keeping it alive?
Voat is/was a great platform, but I don't think it was meant to be forever...

Problem is, you can't really monetize a platform like this. Boy, did they give it the ol' college try. They could always do something like Gab, and let people pay a monthly subscription for a badge next to your username + some extra, mostly superfluous, features. Make it something cheap, like $5/m, that anyone can afford. I'd much rather donate to voat, in such a way, than donate to some corrupt charity.

Never knew this place existed til i got the error 503 and started googling what happened to voat. Are we all still in the dark?
