Voat is/was a great platform, but I don't think it was meant to be forever...

Problem is, you can't really monetize a platform like this. Boy, did they give it the ol' college try. They could always do something like Gab, and let people pay a monthly subscription for a badge next to your username + some extra, mostly superfluous, features. Make it something cheap, like $5/m, that anyone can afford. I'd much rather donate to voat, in such a way, than donate to some corrupt charity.

Agreed. I don't mind paying for entertainment. If it can make a difference, I don't mind throwing some money their way, from time to time.
