I found a new user introduction video for the site.

I doubt its authenticity:

We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own

Just sounds too... inclusive.

The continuation of that speech from The Best of Both Worlds: Part 1 (arguably, when combined with part 2, the best Star Trek episode of any series, and definitely better than any Next-Gen movie), also seems appropriate for this Raddit place.

Borg: Your culture will adapt to service us.

Picard: Impossible. My culture is based on freedom and self-determination!

Borg: Freedom is irrelevant. Self-determination is irrelevant. You must comply.

EDIT: I guess posting the full scene is relevant.

yes raddit is the hive of everything voat wants to not be.

Well, Raddit is ridiculously ban-happy, and that's not Voat. Voat just throttles and harasses people so most wrong-thinkers leave of their own accord.

Both represent extreme ideological distillations, that have largely lost the ability and motivation to communicate or empathize with their opposition, and instead spend their time angrily circle-jerking and demonizing them.

It's obvious they agree on some issues: online privacy, mainstream brain-washing; Voat is antisemitic with a peripheral hatred of Israel, Raddit hates Israel with implied antisemitism.

"The administrators of this site will not cooperate with any court, government or law enforcement agency, or provide any private data from our Site to anyone. We are not Americans and are not subject to American law. We will not appoint any American administrators because of the oppressive data retention and data seizure laws that country places on its citizens. We will not store raddit.me on a server located inside the USA."

That does sound pretty nice.

I bet if they were asked to cooperate though, they'd fucking do it.

Why on earth didn't they call it safe.space?

Didn't Imzy try basically this, but without the heavy TOS? Just implied enforcement of it.

Raddit seems pretty extreme... I think they have more in common with the original intent of thefempire.org, which is apparently where SRS went after leaving Reddit.
