Der Kaiser...... how are his tax returns doing?
"The French had Bardot, The English had the Beatles. Thank god we had Cruyff!" - Nico Dijkshoorn
Also funny how you guys needed Louis van Gaal to finally start playing attractive football after so many decades!
Goddamit our KNVB is in such bad shape..... Like literally fucked it all up within 2 years. No one wanted Danny Blind as a coach, We all wanted Ronald Koeman, still the fucking board decided for Hiddink then Blind. Even Kept Blind in place while he fucked up eventual placement for a 24 team EC, while he had all the chance....... Literally no one in NL has faith in the KNVB managment and the national coach atm. We missed the EC, our clubs lost UEFA ranking and now we lost direct Champions league spot... still we are not in crisis according to the former Chairman.....
Current generation is a sack of potatoes with a shitty mentality (think they are all that and they dont need to put in any effort)...Which doesn't help at all. Robben talked about a giant rift in mentality with the younger players in an interview after 2014 WC. Bad generations happen especially since we are a small nation, and tbh we had a few amazing generations after eachother since 88' Just wait a few years, we have some wonderfull talents running around in the youth that will put current "pop-stars" to disgrace.
48 WC is fucked up btw, not looking forward to any of that.
I actually think that Gus Hiddink is an outstanding coach who can work true miracles - when he is in the right place at the right time. The guy has a knack for being given free reign over a downtrodden backwater team under unprofessional management and transforming it within months from laughing stock into a serious contender, as he did with South Korea and Russia.
With the Elftal there was neither much he could improve with his methods, nor had he as much elbow space to change things as he had in Korea and Russia. In that position he was like a great white shark deployed in desert warfare.
Guus was a legendary coach, Real Madrid, Chelsea, we nearly won the WC in 98' under his charge as well. But he seemed to old and out of touch to bring energy into a group of younger players this time. Something Van Gaal actually accomplished and led the team to the 3rd spot on WC only months before with basically the same group.
The fact that he resigned only a half year after and Blind for some reason automatically took over. This was in the contract to happen after the 2016, when Blind would be promoted from Assistant for some unknown reason. About the dodgiest thing to happen in Dutch national football coaching since Blind was only headcoach for 224 days prior at his short and dissapointing Ajax spell.
He hasn't called up Van Persie and barely plays Huntelaar for example. They might not be in form but ffs they are better then De Jong or any of the fuckers he's been playing on a bad day.
Do not denigrate the Kaiser! He had the lead over The Beatles in the charts for one solid week with his smash hit "Gute Freunde". (That was the time frame for people to actually listen to that record and warn everyone else about the abomination contained within it.)
And of course you need to qualify in the first place before you can win anything. I wouldn't be surprised if the WC 48 team extension was pushed by the Dutch after losing against such luminaries as Iceland in the 2016 qualifiers.
