It is garbage, but any replacement that gains vast popularity will also suck I suspect. At the risk of sounding like an elitist, the problem is normies--or perhaps the commercialization of a platform that follows a mass audience. Smaller, decentralized platforms offer a better chance of producing something to address the problems rather than a reddit 2.0 that slightly tweaks reddit.
Forget "reddit 2.0". people will figure it out we're already decentralizing everytime someone joins phuks... this is going to become more popular... (not just phuks... the whole nook jam)

Reddit cucks in a nutshell
I just don't understand why everyone went to one site when hundreds of reddit tier sites should be recreated almost daily... like laundry... things get old.... and faster now
Unfortunately the game is solved because anti-social media like Reddit and digg have been around long enough that there is an extensive history of reposts. Bots post recycled content in a loop and other bots post former top or high upvoted comments into the thread in an effort to farm accounts for sale. Wherever there is high traffic content will turn into bots reposting, sold bots shilling, and current events.
Hopefully any of their remaining alt-haters will gravitate to voat. No one would even notice the increase in toxicity levels over there.
Voat is a necessary evil. Like government strangely enough. Words need to be spoken and people require government. And that's all I got to say about that..... want a chocolate?
I found that reddit is bot/hive minded pretty hard. There are many comments that feed reply puns and they predictably follow the original comment. I've tried to establish a presence with my OC however I get blocked or deleted for the weirdest reasons... I hope that site fails so people will go spend their time on better forums
