Bullets aren't the biggest problem, it's the mines and shells that fuck everything up forever. France still has a massive problem with that.
Doesn't seem likely, bullets heat significantly when fired which would destroy the viability of most seeds. Additionally it would mess with the density and total mass of the bullet. This would have less pentrainion and kenetic energy. It would also decrease accuracy at range due to greater speed loss.
You're probably right, but the fact that they are looking into it is encouraging. I am surprised it has taken this long since WW1 and WW2 to start thinking about the lasting effects of battlefields.
It would be nice in that regard, but unless you get everyone ton switch it is unlikely as they will be of lower quality/effectiveness and higher cost over conventional bullets.
Perhaps a biodegradable plant based plastic bullet casing? It would cost more and be more likely to jam, but total effective loss would be lower.
Bullet casings could work, maybe. The problem is the heat though I think.
Saying that, new materials are being created every day so I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility.
That way war can bring both bullets and flowers. Problem solved. Attention Hippies; we can all go home now, we won.
But for real, it's a really cool conceptual idea, but I'm not sure on the practicality.
