Good. Any immigrants we accept should be fully capable of supporting themselves.

the Trump administration continues to prioritize money over family unity by ensuring that only the wealthiest can afford to build a future in this country

TIL: Not being on welfare = wealthy.

Where do they find these people?

I really hate politicians' and lobbyists' talking points. They think they are being so clever with their smirk responses, but I hear it for the shit that it is. Both sides do it, and it drives me crazy that we don't punish them for their total insincerity. Making dishonest and deliberately manipulative statements like this should be a badge of shame that jeopardizes your political career.

Well, yeah. This should be common sense. Every country you look at for immigration required applicants and entrants to have a certain amount of savings and the ability to contribute positively to the country financially. Sometimes the country goes so far as to require applicants/entrants to be in certain high demand industries.

TIL: Not being on welfare = wealthy.

No kidding. "Money over family unity" as if to say that you can't have a family and not be in abject poverty at the same time. Nothing but smear.

Exactly.

It's bad enough we have a welfare state among our own citizens, we certainly don't need to import more of this problem.
