I agree, but in my opinion decisions like this are far to often left to people who don't understand what they're doing. They think they do, because they're advised by lobbyists, but don't see how far reaching their decisions are and how much it could ruin.

Good luck with that when the majority wants experienced politicians with lots of experience, meaning they're often too old to know the tech they try to regulate. There's probably still a good part of high ranking politicians who have their secretaries to print them out their email.

I prefer to think of it as the legal system working as it should. Something like this should be legislated, not controlled by a small panel of people. Things like this should be difficult to enact and difficult to remove, not subject to the whims of a few people which can be bought or intimidated
