I don't understand. Europe isn't electing him, Turkey is. Or at least they might be, if he lets anybody run. Is he trying to get international support to convince his constituents that he's not a piece of shit?

It's about double nationalities. Turks keep their Turkish passport even though they are Dutch, German, Belgian etc etc. They keep being Turkish even though the generations are being born in Western Europe, as they are children of Turks they get the Turkish nationality. Hence they are voters that Erdogan wants to persuade to vote for him.

It's a fucked up system that discourages integration. Our Dutch PM already said we don't want any campaigning in NL stating safety concernc (see Rotterdam riots last year)

It's a common thing, Dutch ppl living/working abroad can also sill vote fr Dutch parliament. Think it's the same for US nationals?
