I agree with you that they should be grand fathered in if the player has been wearing the helmet for years before the new rule. Kind of like how the NHL let older players go without helmets after they changed the rules that forced players to wear them.

but part of their certification process is testing the helmets and i've seen nothing saying this brand is doing especially poorly. i think they should at least be grandfathered for all the players that have been using them for years. pretty much anyone who is still playing with them at this point has made millions and can decide for themselves whether they want to continue using them.
