NATO is a defensive alliance. Why should joining a defensive alliance be viewed as a provocation? The Russian paranoia that NATO plans to invade Russia is pretty irrational and weird and mostly projection of their own intentions and world view IMO. Germans, French, Italians, Dutch, etc have exactly zero interest in starting an offensive war and trying to occupy Russia. Why the fuck would they want to do that? That shit don't make sense.
Russians need to let go of their WWII thinking. And I thought Americans were bad with weak historical knowledge and comparing everything to Hitler or Nazis.
Not sure what that has to do with Russia's safety. What that proves is large, nuclear states like to bully small, unaligned states. There is an endless list of examples from all sides fucking with small, non-nuclear states.
Strangely large, nuclear states don't mess with other large, nuclear states. Really complicated stuff, right? Maybe some day we'll be smart enough to figure out how all this works. Until that day I guess we'll have to keep listening to whatever bullshit politicians tell us about what's going on and how things really work.
NATO should haves been dissolved when the cold war ended. The US is ramping up to 100,000 troops stationed in europe and is building new bases in Poland. What's going on between Russia and former Russia doesn't matter at all to us. It should be let go and the only thing we should do is peace talks. Oh wait, we won't do peace talks because the US took a stance of indefinitely supporting Ukraine. A country that is not at all our ally. The US gov needs to let go, not the Russians.
Thanks God I was so sure Russia was going to invade the EU
