I suppose it could be normal- it's becoming more insular and homogenous and the topics follow in their extremity- but I wonder sometimes whether the narratives being pushed are truly organic.

There are some fishy accounts who seem, to me, to not be who they claim to be- and I don't mean the obvious distractions like Amalek and Sanegoat and Engrish/nogarbage. These fishy accounts seem like users playing a role that doesn't quite match up with their writing style & content.

I don't care to name names openly. More observation is needed.

Maybe I'm just becoming schizo.

I've been browsing Voat less and less lately so I haven't noticed an uptick. But I do agree that there's some dedicated individuals who are using sock puppets to drive an agenda.

Personally, I lay a lot of blame on whoever runs these accounts (and probably more)

As they all post nothing but a particular type of news and don't contribute to the community in any way.

However they make the front page several times a day with their accounts and give the illusion that there's more interest in these subjects than there organically were.

If course, now they've cultivated that interest and just fuel the circle jerk.

Others in that style (little community participation, lots of posts) are HWY395, SomeguyfromRI, and a number of other newer names. It's hard for me to judge whether an account is pushing an agenda because I blocked almost all the subs where politics dominate.

You're right, although most of those users are posting random content of some substance. They may not participate but they're not driving any particular agenda.

The users I listed post nothing but anti immigration stuff.

Well biggest problem in my eyes is that it's not sticking to the subs, but seeping into everything else. Just take a look at /v/funny and see 75% is about rightwing bullshit....

I've seen many voaters with low participation / post count and big CCP. Especially around PV territory they are abundant. These are also the accounts with massive downvote percentages (800 upvotes, 600 downvotes and such. While normal accounts are 800 vs 200/100. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a few users with a lot of alts trying to push their agenda. The rethoric and writing styles are often the same and they have taken it so far that the right wing stooges are actually openly proclaiming voat has always been right wing in it's policy......

It amazes me how "free speech, create a sub" became "no bans or deletions in system subs" and later "PV approved mods in public interest subs." Putting it like that makes it seem like someone is manipulating things. The pushes for free speech are motivated by access to an audience, since free speech is allowed by creating a sub- nobody is guaranteed an audience. The periodic agent provocateurs goading mods into a ban or deletion don't help the conclusion. However, it is not clear if this was the end goal or a difference of opinion for what free speech means or a reactionary process by people rationalizing free speech into every drama episode.
