I can't think of a better place to put this, but I wanted to share that I am home again.

The ride home was torture and I am in an exceptional amount of pain. Ow!

Fortunately, I have an RN on duty and I have liquid dilaudid for breakthrough pain. Unfortunately, I get to pick my dosage (to some extent) and I opted for a minimal dose. It is a long story but let's just say that addiction is a major concern and I keep my dosing to a very minimal amount. (0.5 mg dilaudid by IV.)

Welcome home!

Dang, a nurse and everything! You're playing this hand for all it's worth!

Heal well ... they'll be snow that needs smashing!

Yeah. I have home-health care. Even my PT is going to be done in-home.

I have a small gym in the basement and I don't think I have actually done anything more than dust the equipment since like 2011. That is going to finally come in handy.

This is actually something I expect insurance to fully reimburse me for. The other alternative was an assisted living facility.

Worked my ass off to meet all the goals and demonstrate all the skills. So, I am home but I have home health care to assist me.

My current nurse is a rather stern looking gentleman that tells me he is fond of lifting heavy things and putting them back down. He's jacked but seems to know his shit.

Good for you! You could've picked a better nurse though ... one that can break you in half if you don't listen doesn't sound appealing. Don't let him see this though ... he may be able to track me down!

No kidding though, it's probably gonna be a good stretch till you're feeling tip top, so take it easy. I don't envy you. The good part, you're home ... the bad part, you're home. Enjoy both.

As I mentioned in another comment, I am discovering how odd it is to re-think so many things. I actually have to move through the house in a different manner, minimize steps, etc... How odd... This is entirely new to me.

Glad to hear you are back home.

Thanks! My bed is taller than I remember.

It is strange having to re-think and re-learn so many things. It is a whole new approach to moving through my house.

Glad to see you are alive! I broke my femur when I was a teenager and it was hell. I can only imagine what's like being an old fart with a broken leg.

It is fucking horrible.

I not only broke the strongest bone in my body, I broke it at the strongest point.

I ain't scared of a few xrays. I kept all the xrays and the screws from my experience with breaking my femur and I used them for a presentation in school. Lol

Those are permanent and the metal goes down further than is indicated in the x-ray. There are a couple more screws that aren't in the image.

Ol' Buddha got himself some new hardware!

Mine was done in a horrific car accident (I was not the driver) that started off at very significant speeds. We left a trail of debris that reminded me of the pictures of plane crashes. We went though a telephone pole and two trees that I know of. By the time we were done, there was pretty much nothing left except the passenger compartment. There was no nose, trunk, undercarriage, etc... Just the passenger compartment and even that was twisted up pretty bad.

It is in impound (the driver was shitfaced) but I am hoping to get pictures. We shall see...

How'd you break your femur?
