Rasputin, a Siberian-born muzhik, or peasant, who underwent a religious conversion as a teenager and proclaimed himself a healer with the ability to predict the future, won the favor of Czar Nicholas II and Czarina Alexandra through his ability to stop the bleeding of their hemophiliac son, Alexei, in 1908.

I've always wondered if this guy was as 'bulletproof' as I've read, or if it's a dramatized story. In either case, a very fascinating man and story.

It's truly interesting. Just reading about Alexei and early treatments of hemophiliac. No wonder he gained favor by the royal family, he saved their only son.

True. He's almost a mythical character though. That's what has always made me wonder bout his story.
