Biofuel- enormously expensive and can damage diesel engines.
Electric- you really think you can run a fishing boat on batteries?
Fuel cells- require the mass production of H which requires more energy than you ever get out.

All those technologies are progressing, and would do so much faster if fossil fuels were priced to reflect environmental damage. It wasn't so long ago that people thought human flight was impossible.

I guess they could go nuclear, but I don't see them returning to sails and hauling up nets by hand.
