I'm sure they take the cheapest option = fossil fuels at present. If somehow they were to succeed, they would make that option far more expensive - and then they'd still choose the cheapest option available. Perhaps they'd rather have fish than cheap fuel.

The wind is free.
I guess they could go nuclear, but I don't see them returning to sails and hauling up nets by hand.
Biofuel, electric, hydrogen cell technology, would be great if sails were the best option, but there are many possibilities.
