Why do I (or anyone) care if it is 600,000 or 6,000,000? The number may be different, but it's still the same thing.
Nothing changes if we accept 600,000. The Nazi's were still the badguys. Killing jews is still wrong.

Any census that counts and interviews every subject, would be accurate.
That's impossible for a country though. A national census is never accurate, it is always an approximation at best.
