My main complaint is that he is orange. Really my only complaint. He looks pretty normal in person though.

specific numbers (something something something, research i did yesterday...):

2006-2015 "Refugee claimants by top 50 countries of citizenship"

2003-2012 source countries for immigration

vast majority south and east asians long term in both in the long term. its been narrowing but it is definitively not dominantly middle-east and african. the recent spike has aligned well with the arab spring and isis which is every bit as temporary as the haitian spike, just more drawn out.

i can't really counter the claim that for most its easiest to pass through the US as i can't find any evidence either way and all statistics anywhere leave out if refugees arrived from a country other than their own. i will say, though, that the US has far more ports of entry and its harder to send someone on the next plane home when they show up somewhere other than an airport.

at any rate, back to the original point, even if the northern border isn't currently a major issue, it should still be secured or else canadian and american border control and immigration may as well merge, there are so many ways to cross. illegal immigration via expired visas is going to exist as long as tourism does but physically crossing the border illegally, with no records, can much more easily be stopped.

Still no.
The topic was illegal immigration.
Which is still Middle-East and African dominated.
I already gave you some links, but here's another:
"The largest groups are from Eritrea, Syria, Sudan, Yemen and other countries facing economic or war catastrophe."

US has far more ports of entry

That and there is an established black market industry for entry to the US. The Mexican 'Coyotaje' may be the best known, but they are all over the world.
Getting feet on the ground in the US is much easier than you seem to think. The student trick is very popular.
Once they are physically in, it doesn't matter what they are supposed to do, they go rogue.

it should still be secured..

Agreed.
