I'm all about function and simple tools. I've not done a whole lot. What I have done is mostly with off the shelf dimensional lumber.
I have a small shed, well roof to work under. It has odd bits of plywood, fabric and tarps for 'walls'. Maybe 6x12.
My tool collection is equally pathetic, but I have enough to do some simple things.

That's what I like best in cabinetry. I trained with an old-school master, but not for very long. It was very early in my career, so I only learned the basics, and the love for the craft.
I made a wood toolbox when I was with him that used no metal fasteners, or metal of any kind. I've used and abused that box for many years, and it's still going today.
Dovetails > Screws.
Professionally I went in a different direction, but I kept it up, off and on, as hobby and occasional side-work. Custom humidors sell for insane amounts.
I haven't had access to a work area in a while, and probably won't again until I retire. :( I have an extra bedroom jammed full of tools that I can't use but refuse to part with.

You've got to work with what you've got. I've done well at times in small places with nothing but hand tools. Tools are important, but the most important tool is you.
Would love to seem some pics of that box. That is something I really need to do. Was thinking of doing it a while back, and never could settle on a design. Kinda like those 'Japanese' boxes with the wedge lock tops.
