Was it to get away form the raids of heygeorge or kevdude? Or because the grass had a robust nature and was sweet to the taste?

Total and absolute Mismanagment, afk admins, cutting back on features, admins not communicating with userbase wich wanted to help, 3 month long queue's for /v/subverserequest, brigading, the shift from "old voat" to hivemind and "right wing safespace" , the everlasting bullying/brigading of PV versus anyone trying to build up a non political sub/community, Constantly getting branded because you have critical opinions or dare to be critical towards admins or voat, the lack of playerbase to recruit for Modernpowers, and mainly just tired of the toxic idiocy and constant DrAHama.
I had been talking to @pembo and @polsaker about this idea for a while, then two years ago we just decided to start cause we where done. There was a lot of drama on voat, nothing was getting done, things only got worse. about the same time puttputt just took down some features (like 20 page max history per sub) which basically made MP unplayable on voat. Also seeing how @THC and @innocentbystander got treated on /v/videos for making a stand about the cutbacks made us see it was a lost cause. This made us push the site live just before christmas 2016. With a lot of help from the MP crew and a lot of others, we slowly attracted new people and made this our new home. Its a bit empty still but its home never the less and we'll see what ever the future brings.
Atleast this time we have active management who listen to the userbase, participate, value critical users and critique so the site is actually alive and improving.
Ah, I didn't know you were a founder here.
Yeah over time all you mention has worn on me. Here it has a small feel and all the posters seem sincere, non-toxic and high quality. Except for @Jobes poop posts that is.
Partially I just got tired of the site-related drama, partially got tired of the hivemind mentality, partially got tired of the general toxicity and partially because I like some of the autistic faggots that use Phuks.
I do miss how easy it was to stir up the hornets nest sometimes though.
Well, hard to beat when they changed the css to SRS lol. That could only be pulled once.
Yeah the toxicity gets to me sometimes, and the hive mind. Can't start a new acct there unless you make sure you agree with the hive mind.
I still have my acct there but now I'm only there for the 1% who knows what I'll do ... :(
Closest we've gotten to anything like that here was when I made a thread saying I'd shove tide pods up my ass, and a few people took it seriously and freaked out.
For me, it happened in phases. Subs dying from sub transfers taking months, connection issues/checking bits, but suddenly getting -30 in 20 mins on a comment about how how many subs people can mod after never having worse than -2 was my break. Kev and them did target my domain at one point, the one I was using for tools to track votes/brigades from new users (that they wanted) and host CSS and images for almost 30 subs. The Modern Powers posters for advertising the new season was about the time we started messing the idea of making phuks. There were like dozen posters I photoshopped with the voatgoat in war propaganda post style advertising v/ModernPowers game sub. They freaked, front pages posts all over about "us spammers." A few months later voat started having "checking your bits" problems, the new API got delayed, and restricting going 20 pages back in subs/posts/comments which made keeping up with ModernPowers basically impossible for game records. Once we had our own space, meh, now we can make it better. New features, faster, allow Mattvision to paint his CSS masterpieces.
