The colors and the speed were the things that jumped out at me right away. The guy blown back in his chair is really what it felt like. The speed might have been novelty that set it apart, but the overall quality of the game was genuine.
I liked the power sappers on the side walls, having to worry about blowing up was a cool twist. The jumps were a blast too, even though you could jump to your death!
I put a ton of hours on this game. I wish I see how long I played, like how Steam keeps track.
I didn't really feel it was comparable to Mario Kart. Mario Kart was fun, but it was cartoonish where F-Zero was edgy and futuristic.
