Things like Iron Sky, Ascention, etc. (Maybe a beta canon book offshoot from a well known series is fine as well)

Also should we open this sub to fantasy as well?

Just watched the first season of The Expanse. I hadn't heard of it, but it was quality entertainment.

I went in with absolutely no expectations and was blown away. They really focused on character and story development, the universe seems entirely possible, and the special effects are movie-grade, which is nice.

There is a Philip K Dick short story called Second Variety. Read it when I was a kid and it got me interested in sci-fi books.

Basically all Philip K Dick books/short stories are good.

Book Series: The Magicians. Fuck the Netflix show of the same name, it's a piece of trash that spits in the face of the books.

The man from earth.

Although I noticed recently it get's a lot of love in /r/moviesuggestions these days, so maybe you've seen it.

If not, you won't regret watching it.

It is very slow pace for scifi, but very good.

I do like a nice slow paced space opera style. I don't really browse reddit much at all.

It isn't about space or futuristic, no special effects. No action whatsoever.

The entire story takes place in a living room with a couple of scenes that venture out to the driveway.

It is all dialog among a group of college professors and I think one student.
